Soul-led & Divinely Guided
On Friday I went out with my amazing friend Steph (who many of you know as well through Local Ladies Club) to the Spinnaker Tower at Gunwharf Quays for Salsa, Bachata & Kizomba dancing! I've only ever worn this dress once before & it makes me feel like the actual dance emoji so of course I HAD to wear it on Friday night! We've been going to Salsa & Bachata dance classes in Southsea for a few weeks now & after years of watching Strictly, dreaming of being able to dance like the pro's but not actually being brave enough to give it a try, Steph encouraged me to & I'm honestly SO GLAD she did because I bloody LOVE IT!
And I'm not half bad either! The Bachata I adore because it feels so natural & easy with its counts of 4 & 8. The Salsa is a little harder for me because it's counts of 3 & my brain is desperately trying to find the 4th step haha.
We also began learning the Kizomba on Friday, which has completely scrambled my brain but I'm determined to get it! So back to classes we go this Tuesday at The Gaiety in Southsea with Salsa Solent. I'm even working on Matt to come with me because I just know he'll be a natural & I'm hoping we'll be good enough & confident enough (!!) to show off our moves at my cousins wedding next Summer!
I'm honestly so grateful to Steph for introducing me to dance because it really does light up my soul! I feel so alive when I'm dancing & completely in the moment. My brain isn't thinking of all the things I need to do, all I'm focused on is moving my body & having fun!
Is there something you've been wanting to learn or do for a long time now but still haven't found the courage? I say you should just go & do it already! What have you got to lose? You might not be good at it, so what! Who cares?! No one else will be looking at you or judging you because they're too busy thinking about themselves in that moment.
What light's up your soul? What gives you a feeling of freedom & brings joy & happiness into your life when you do it? That's not something you do for a living either!!
