Exploration of The Upanishads
Although we're exploring the Anatomy of the Body I wanted to share an insight as to what we've been exploring over in the Breathe WELL Membership...
The Upanishads are some of the most ancient of texts that form part of The Rig Veda; sacred & ancient Hindu scriptures. The word "Upanishad" means "sitting down near" as in sitting down near a teacher in order to listen & learn because that is what The Upanishads are to me; great teachings that, give us an opportunity to understand our place in the Universe & how we can infuse its wisdom into our modern day lives.
With this in mind I wanted to share with you the starting point, The Isha Upanishad. Isha meaning "Inner Ruler". Awareness is everything & our own inner ruler is Awareness. Through materialism & seeking joy in the external we begin to lose the connection to our own Awareness. Through deep Awareness of ourselves we may begin to forget about the world around us.
Therefore, balance of the two is key. We live in a world where materialism reinforces a paradigm of scarcity; there isn't enough for us all & this is happening right now. But there IS enough to go around. There IS enough for us all. Rivers are self generating, they're fed by the rain & in turn feed themselves to the seas & the oceans, & yet they never lose their abundance or fullness. They still flow.
There is an abundance of Consciousness, of Love, of Awareness for us all.
If our Inner Ruler is Awareness can it ever be scarce? No. All we have to do is ask ourselves "Am I Aware?" & in that moment you're there. You are Aware.
We can build our Awareness through Karma because Awareness of Self with external inspired action or Karma. Believe it or not Karma is not "a bitch". Karma is action. Karma is energy. In the words of Deepak Chopra...
"You take action. It creates a memory. That memory generates desire. That desire leads to more action".
This subtle energy is stored in your memory & desires, & is activated in the future through inspired action.
Come & join me in our first Yoga practice of the season over in the Breathe WELL Membership as we explore our own Awareness of our breath, our body & of our own Self as we move intuitively through this flow.
